The best fit for…

… a technical distributor who strengthened vitality in the workplace.

Cause

A large technical distributor with 13 locations in the Netherlands faced a challenge: high absenteeism. It was clear that something had to be done to make employees aware of their own health and employability, so that problems could be addressed early. With a lifestyle policy that was still in its infancy, they decided to invest in a Preventive Medical Examination (PME). The goal? To give employees insight into their health and lifestyle and offer them practical tools to reduce risks.

Startup

After a careful selection process, the distributor chose FitzMe. Why? FitzMe offered exactly what they needed: a flexible approach that fully aligned with their requirements. Whether it involved different types of measurements per job group or conducting the PMO at 13 locations spread across the country, FitzMe delivered custom solutions. Moreover, FitzMe took full responsibility for communication—from digital campaigns to physical materials—ensuring everyone within the organization remained involved.

A kick-off session with management ensured additional support. It explained how the PMO would proceed and why it was important. FitzMe also guaranteed that employee privacy remained protected; the results were viewed only by FitzMe, supported by their ISO certification.

Planning

The distributor opted for a mix of approaches. HR scheduled appointments for some teams so that they fit seamlessly into the work schedules. Other employees were given the freedom to make their own appointments via a convenient online tool. This flexibility ensured that everyone could participate in a way that suited them. Appointments could also be easily changed up to three weeks in advance.

Execution

FitzMe tailored everything perfectly to the specific needs of the distributor. Employees first completed an extensive questionnaire regarding their lifestyle, health, and work fitness. This was followed by an individual consultation with a lifestyle coach, during which various measurements were taken:

– Blood pressure

– Body composition and BMI

– Glucose and cholesterol levels

– For office staff: an eye examination focused on screen use

– For store and warehouse staff: a physical fitness test (FMS)

The flexibility of FitzMe made it possible to adjust the number of scheduled days per location depending on the popularity of the calls. This ensured not only an efficient process but also cost savings.

Reporting

Following the PMO, FitzMe delivered a comprehensive report that was more than just numbers. The results were broken down by location, department, and job profile, which helped to gain targeted insights. For example, it emerged that sedentary employees more frequently had elevated blood pressure, while physical strain was a point of concern for warehouse personnel. FitzMe also established connections between various measurements, such as how elevated glucose levels correlated with a lack of physical activity.

These insights were translated into concrete recommendations, such as adapted workspaces for office staff and exercise programs for specific teams. The report thus provided a valuable basis for a future-oriented vitality policy.

Succession

Together with the distributor, FitzMe developed a plan to address the key risks. This plan included both group-based interventions, such as workshops and coaching, and individual programs. Additionally, the PMO became a fixed component of the vitality policy, with a follow-up every three years. Between PMOs, extra measurements and interventions were offered so that employee health was continuously monitored and improved.

Conclusion

This collaboration was a great success. Thanks to the tailor-made PMO and targeted follow-up, the distributor has made significant strides in improving vitality in the workplace. FitzMe's personal approach and expertise ensured that employees felt heard and supported. The result? A healthier, more productive work environment where everyone feels good.
